Oil Springs, ON - Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site will be hosting Cackling Cauldrons: A Trick-or-Treat Event on Saturday, October 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Scream with delight and get in the spooky spirit with this family-friendly event where children are encouraged to wear their costumes. Trick-or-treat in our historic buildings and stop inside the Museum for Halloween-themed crafts and games, including witch hat ring toss.

First Human Case of West Nile Virus 2023

Point Edward, ON - A Lambton County resident has tested positive for the West Nile virus (WNV). This is the first lab confirmed human case of the virus locally in 2023.
There have been 41 human cases reported in Ontario. WNV was previously established in our area through local surveillance efforts. Mosquito pools in Wyoming, Sarnia, Corunna and Forest tested positive earlier this season.

Testing confirms algal bloom sample does not produce toxins with potential to impact human health

Point Edward, ON – Lab test results have returned in coordination with the investigation led by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP). Lambton Public Health (LPH) has been informed that testing has confirmed that an algae bloom detected in the Ausable River/Parkhill Creek near the Grand Bend Yacht Club does not produce toxins with the potential to impact human health.

Point Edward, ON – Lambton Public Health (LPH) has been informed by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) that testing has confirmed that an algae bloom detected in the Ausable River/Parkhill Creek near the Grand Bend Yacht Club is not blue-green algae.
MECP is conducting further analysis on this algal bloom to determine if algal toxins are present. Results of this analysis will be communicated as soon as they become available.

Point Edward, ON – Beginning today, eligible Lambton County residents can book appointments to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine targeting the XBB 1.5 variant, as well as the annual influenza vaccine.
Individuals currently eligible to book include populations identified as being at high-risk for severe negative health outcomes this respiratory illness season. These high-risk populations include:
