Sarnia, ON - A new, confidential, text-based reporting system introduced by Lambton Public Health will help protect people in the workplace from second-hand smoke.
"This means any workplace, including vehicles such as taxis, cars and company trucks," said Paul Buttery, Health Promoter at Lambton Public Health. "If you suspect someone has been smoking in the workplace, simply text details to 226-909-3003. It's quick, easy and anonymous. Enforcement Officers will follow up as quickly as possible."

Community Paramedic Program records 1,000 home visits

Petrolia, ON - The innovative Lambton Community Paramedic Pilot Program has completed its 1,000th home visit since the program launched in August 2017.
Preliminary results indicate the program has resulted in significant reductions to local Emergency Department (ED) visits as well as a decrease in 9-1-1 calls.
The goal of the program is to proactively provide care to patients who are high users of 9-1-1 and the Emergency Departments in their communities.

Low-cost rabies clinics in Lambton

Point Edward, ON - Lambton Public Health is partnering with the Sarnia Humane Society and several rural municipalities to offer low-cost rabies vaccination clinics during April and May across Lambton County.
The clinics are open to cats and dogs three (3) months of age and older. Animals must be in good health and not vaccinated within the last year. Only the rabies vaccine will be offered. Animals must be leashed or contained.
The cost is $25 per animal (cash only).

Council approves 2018 Council Budget

Wyoming, ON - Lambton County Council has finalized a 1.93% net increase to the County property tax levy during the conclusion of its 2018 budget deliberations in Wyoming this morning.
The Final 2018 County Budget calls for $74.8 million to be raised through local property taxes, supporting expenditures totaling $213.1 million.
Council endorsed the following six staff recommendations designed to reduce spending in 2018:

Vintage films highlight Archives Awareness Week activities

Wyoming, ON - Lambton County Archives will be hosting its second-ever Vintage Films night at the Sarnia Library Theatre early next month.
The footage, from the Archives' collection, will be screened from 7 - 8 p.m., Tuesday April 10. Admission to Vintage Films night is free and caps off the celebration of Archives Awareness Week, April 3-7, 2018.
