Point Edward, ON ̶ Lambton County beach-goers will be able to get more accurate and timely water quality notifications thanks to a new predictive beach-water sampling system being introduced as of June 4 by Lambton Public Health (LPH).
Water at five of Lambton's public beaches will be monitored on a daily basis by LPH while two others will be sampled weekly. Beach-water testing continues until the end of August.
"The new predictive beach model monitoring system will provide a more accurate representation of water quality and allow us to relay this information to the public sooner," says Theresa Warren, Public Health Inspector with Lambton Public Health. "The primary drawback of our previous testing method was the time-lapse from water sampling, lab analysis, and reporting results to the public involved several days. As such, sampling results may not have always reflected conditions of the beach when the results were received."
