Building Permits |
The County of Lambton issues building permits for local municipalities within the County, with the exception of the City of Sarnia and the Municipality of Lambton Shores. |
Business Licensing |
The County of Lambton does not issue business licenses. Please contact your city, town or township government, as well as the Provincial Ministry, to determine if you need a license for your business. |
Development Applications |
The County of Lambton and local municipalities handle a variety of development applications. These include consents (severances), minor variances, plans of subdivision and condominium and zoning by-law amendments. |
Entrance Permits |
You need an entrance permit for the construction of or changes to any entrance to a County road. This includes residential, commercial, and public entrances. |
Oversize and Overweight Permits |
An Oversize and Overweight permit is required for the transportation of goods not conforming to the standards detailed in the Highway Traffic Act. The permit is valid only on those highways under the jurisdiction of the County of Lambton, which you can view on the County Road Network map. If you are using highways outside the County of Lambton's jurisdiction, you must also get permission from the proper authorities. |
Plumbing Permits |
A plumbing permit is required for all new installations of plumbing and the replacement of any part of an existing plumbing system. |
Sewage System Permits |
A sewage system permit is required for any new installations or major repairs to an existing septic system. |
Sign Permits |
A sign permit is required for the construction of any sign, notice or advertising device measuring greater than 1 foot by 3 feet, located within 100 metres of the centre line of a County Road (the County control area). |
