The Planning and Development Services department prepares and maintains the County's Official Plan, which outlines the vision for the municipality and guides Council in its decisions about how lands in the community should be used and how growth and change can or should occur.
The department provides Condominium and Subdivision, Municipal Official Plan and Woodlot approvals, and administers the Woodlands Conservation By-Law. We work closely with local municipalities preparing Official Plans and Zoning By-laws; providing comprehensive, ongoing planning advisory services to municipal clerks, councils, and residents; and providing advisory services to municipal consent granting authorities.
Community emergency planning, maintenance of the County's 9-1-1 system and the administration of the management plans for various County-owned natural areas reside with this Department as well.
