Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, February 1, Lambton County Council:
- Heard presentations from:
- Laurie Zimmer, Vice-President of Clinical Serivces, Bluewater Health, Kathy Alexander, Executive Director, Bluewater Health Foundation, and Jack Vanderveen, Director, Facilities & Support Services, Bluewater Health, sharing an update on the Bluewater Health Helipad Project.
- John Loerchner, CEO, Wildscape Co./Cabinspace providing an overview of sustainable building of affordable housing and small homes.
- Denise Heckbert, Sr. Advisory, Strategy & Market Policy, Power, Enbridge Inc., and Sumesh Guptar, Technical Manager, Self-Power & Energy Storage, Power, Enbridge Inc. regarding Enbridge battery energy storage in St. Clair Township.
- Dan Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP), and Matthew Slotwinski, Senior Economic Development Officer, SLEP, providing an update on SLEP’s activities and plans.
- Agreed to issue a letter of support to the Independent Electricity System Operator regarding the development, construction, and operation of Enbridge’s proposed Battery Energy Storage System projects in St. Clair Township.
- Held the Annual General Meeting of The Corporation of the County of Lambton Community Development Corporation.
- Requested that staff include a project in the 2023 capital budget for the intersection control treatment at County Road 22 (London Line) and County Road 8 (Forest Road). The preferred control treatment is a single lane roundabout, subject to the required property acquisitions and resolution of any utility conflicts.
- Approved proposed posted speed zone modifications on County Roads 1 (Lambton Line/Broadway Street), 2 (Bentpath Line), 8 (Forest Road), 22 (London Line), 28 (Holt Line), 30 (Oil Heritage Road), and 36 (Bickford Line).
- Re-appointed Mr. John Mascarin as Integrity Commissioner for the County of Lambton, commencing on August 1, 2023 and expiring on April 30, 2027.
- Appointed Olivia Léger as Clerk and Stéphane Thiffeault as Deputy Clerk for the County of Lambton, effective February 2, 2023.
- Approved the 2023 Service and Fees Schedule.
- Decided that all Board of Health matters be dealt with at first instance by the entire Board of Health rather than through the County's Committee system.
- Agreed that, if requested by a local municipality seeking an amendment to its official plan, the municipality’s proposed official plan amendment(s) will be brought forward to Council for consideration and decision rather than through the current staff delegation process.
Council will next meet in Open Session at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
