Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 5, Lambton County Council:
- Marked the 175th Anniversary of the County of Lambton, and recognized 27 individuals and groups as Heritage Champions. Award recipients represented each of the 11 municipalities within the County of Lambton, and were recognized for their dedication to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Lambton County.
- Formalized a partnership with Indwell to advance the development of affordable and supportive housing in the community, with the goal to plan, construct, and operate up to 300 supportive housing units.
- Authorized staff to engage in discussions on an Option to Purchase Agreement for the donation of the Victoria Street Parking Lot from the City of Sarnia for its potential use for supportive housing.
- Renewed the City-County Agreement with the City of Sarnia, on its current terms and conditions, for a further five-year term so that the agreement now expires in July 2029.
- Approved the County of Lambton Strategic Plan 2024-2027.
- Requested a report on the percentage of payments made by each municipality to the County Budget and the percentage of services each municipality receives in return for those contributions on a high-level basis.
Council will next meet at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. The meeting will begin with a Closed Session, if necessary, followed immediately by the Open Session.
