Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, Lambton County Council:
- Directed staff to prepare a report by January 31, 2020 providing an inventory of social programs and services offered to seniors in Lambton County; and
- Instructed staff to strike a task force with Navigating Senior Care Lambton to assess the need for a Seniors Advisory Committee and report its findings to County Council.
- Received a report from Mark Perrin, Executive Director, Tourism Sarnia-Lambton (TSL) regarding the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) and TSL's role in seeking to implement the MAT in municipalities.
- Heard a presentation regarding the 2020 Creative County Grant Program application intake and testimonials from three past recipients of the Creative County Grant.
- Supported a resolution concerning local health care services.
- Accepted and approved a request from the Board of The County of Lambton Community Development Corporation (CLCDC) to collapse a Deferred Debenture between the County of Lambton and the CLCDC.
- Directed staff to incorporate a recurring operating grant into the County's 2020 Budget and prepare a four-year funding agreement between Council and the CLCDC Board.
- Instructed staff to negotiate certain amendments to its contribution agreement with SWIFT.
- Directed staff to prepare a report on the feasibility of live streaming the A.M. and P.M. Committee meetings.
- Tabled a motion to request a report providing options for a third-party audit of the County's Long-Term Care homes to the in-camera meeting on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
- Requested a report from staff outlining ways to attract and retain Personal Support Workers to the County Long-Term Care homes.
Council will next meet in Open Session at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
