Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton has purchased the Lambton Shared Services Centre, located within the City of Sarnia.
“This purchase is an investment in our future and will allow the County and our partners to continue to deliver exceptional services to the community through this facility,” said Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott. “The purchase will reduce expenditures by eliminating our rent payments for the space, and also give us the flexibility to use the space in ways that will most benefit the community.”
The transaction closed on Monday, June 3, 2024, with a final purchase price of $17.6 million. The purchase is funded through current reserve funds earmarked for this acquisition with the remaining balance being financed through secured debt.
In 2020, Lambton County Council approved a 20-year lease agreement between the County of Lambton and Seasons Retirement Communities, the former owner of the property, with one of the stipulations being the renovation of the Lambton Shared Services Centre. These renovations were completed in 2022.
The Lambton Shared Services Centre houses several departments from the County of Lambton including Homelessness Prevention & Children’s Services, Court Services, Housing Services, Ontario Works, and some program areas from Lambton Public Health and Procurement and Project Management. The Centre is also home to the local branch of the Ontario Disability Support Program, one of the County’s partner organizations from the Province of Ontario.
