Whether you're a teacher, health-care worker, or welcoming a new baby to the family, everyone has a reason to get the flu shot. What's yours?
FREE seasonal flu shots will soon be available across Lambton County to all Lambton residents at:
- 6 community clinics
- 33 Lambton pharmacies (vaccine not available to anyone under 5 years old)
- Health-care providers (contact your doctor or nurse practitioner)
Visit www.lambtonhealth.on.ca for a list of clinics and dates, and participating pharmacies.
"The flu isn't something you want to get or share with others," said Erin Courtney, Supervisor with Lambton Public Health. "The flu shot is the safest way to prevent the spread of the flu and the best way to protect loved ones."
Flu season normally runs from November to April. After getting the flu shot, it takes about two weeks for full protection to kick in and provides protection for 4-6 months.
Those at high risk of influenza-related complications include:
- Babies under 6 months
- Children under 5 years of age
- Older adults
- Pregnant people
- People with underlying health conditions
