Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, April 14 to discuss updates to the current COVID-19 situation.
At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Heard that over 35,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Lambton County, as of April 14, 2021. This is approximately 31% of the eligible population within the County.
- Discussed the vaccine allocations expected to be delivered from the Province over the next several weeks. These allocations will be much lower than expected, which will result in a reduction in the number of clinics operating. At its maximum, local vaccine delivery capacity has the ability to administer between 12,000 and 15,000 doses per week, however current shipments of vaccine are significantly lower than what is required to meet this maximum. The delivery model in place for clinics and mobile vaccinations in the County is flexible and able to respond to these supply fluctuations. Capacity will be increased in accordance with the amount of vaccine received from the Province.
- Received an update on the pop-up community clinic held at the Sunbridge Hotel on April 8. This clinic was able to vaccinate over 40% of individuals living within the local shelter system. Additional clinics for congregate settings like group homes and other shelters will be scheduled based on future vaccine allocations.
- Heard that details on availability of Emergency Child Care for school-aged children of essential worker families will be available within the next few days. This information will be shared as soon as possible, and updates will be provided at lambtononline.ca/childcare.
- Would like to remind residents that local statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
