Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, April 21 to discuss updates to the current COVID-19 situation.
At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Heard that over 40,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Lambton County, as of April 21, 2021. This is approximately 34% of the eligible population within the County.
- Received an update from Lambton EMS regarding the transfer of hospital patients from the Greater Toronto Area to other hospitals throughout the province. Many GTA hospitals are currently reaching and surpassing their maximum capacity. As a result, the Province is calling for assistance from Emergency Medical Services throughout Ontario for support in transporting patients to other hospitals in the province, including hospitals in Lambton County, Chatham-Kent and Windsor where capacity is available to provide support. On Monday, Lambton EMS began transporting patients to Bluewater Health from the GTA and anticipates continuing to do so for the next several days.
- Briefly discussed the Federal budget that was released on April 19. Finance staff are currently reviewing the budget.
- Heard that spaces in the Emergency Child Care program for school-aged children of essential worker families are still available. Details including locations, eligibility, and how to apply can be found on lambtononline.ca/childcare.
- Would like to remind residents that local statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
