Emergency Control Group Update - April 3

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Friday morning to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group is scheduled to meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements.

At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:

• Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County.
• Was informed that the Pandemic Working Group, responsible for carrying out decisions made by the Emergency Control Group, will be assembled next week.
• Heard an update from Valerie Colasanti, General Manager of the Social Services Division. Staff are working closely with the local social services network to communicate available services and are working with local shelters to assist in reducing the number of individuals in shelters, to aid in physical distancing. Overflow measures are in place, in case they are required, and staff continue working with local shelters to ensure actions are taken to maintain proper physical distancing measures.
• Received an update from Lambton EMS regarding the creation of a working group to create a proposal for the Ministry of Health containing recommended actions for Ministry call centres to take, enabling them to handle an anticipated increase in call volume and reduction in staffing levels.
• Was advised that Lambton EMS staff are revisiting the software used for their SAVE project, and are working with the developer to determine the program's ability to register volunteers, should the need arise.
