Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, August 12 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Wednesday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.
At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
- Heard that Lambton Public Health is continuing to work with local school boards to discuss the anticipated reopening of schools in September. Early stages of preparation and planning are taking place while awaiting finalized guidance and instructions from the Provincial government.
- Discussed last week's announcement from the Province regarding the hiring of new nurses to support Ontario's Plan for the Safe Reopening of Schools in the fall. Lambton Public Health is awaiting further details from the Province on this initiative.
- Heard Lambton Public Health and Chatham-Kent Public Health, in partnership with local school boards, have prepared a letter for families deciding whether or not to send their children back to school in the fall. You can read the letter on the Lambton Public Health website.
- Received an update on PPE supply levels from County divisions. All areas continue to maintain an adequate supply level.
