Emergency Control Group Update – December 15, 2021

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group (CECG) met Wednesday, December 15 to discuss updates to the current COVID-19 situation.

At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:

• Heard that 207,314 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Lambton County, as of Wednesday, December 15. That represents 80% of individuals aged 5+ that have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 76% of individuals aged 5+ that have received two doses.
• Discussed the rapid spread of the Omicron variant throughout the Province. Residents are reminded to continue practicing basic public health measures including maintaining physical distancing, practicing proper hand hygiene and cough/sneeze etiquette, and staying home if you are feeling unwell (even mildly).
• Heard that demand is increasing for third dose appointments, and following the meeting it was announced that all individuals aged 18+ would become eligible to book their third dose appointments on Monday, December 20. Clinics are currently fully booked through the month of December, and appointments are being added regularly to meet demand over the coming months. Residents are asked to check GetTheVaccine.ca frequently for updates.
• Would like to remind residents that all eligible individuals who have not yet received their first or second dose can continue to register for a vaccine appointment or attend a drop-in clinic. Full details are listed at GetTheVaccine.ca.
• Would like to remind residents that local statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
