Emergency Control Group Update – December 22, 2021

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group (CECG) met Wednesday, December 22 to discuss updates to the current COVID-19 situation.

At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:

• Heard that 214,403 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Lambton County, as of Wednesday, December 22. That represents 80% of individuals aged 5+ that have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 76% of individuals aged 5+ that have received two doses, and 14% of individuals aged 5+ that have received three doses.
• Continued to discuss the rapid spread of the Omicron variant throughout the Province. Residents are reminded to continue practicing basic public health measures including maintaining physical distancing, practicing proper hand hygiene and cough/sneeze etiquette, and staying home if you are feeling even mildly unwell.
• Heard that demand continues to increase for third dose appointments with eligibility recently expanded to all individuals aged 18+. New clinics and appointments are being added regularly to meet demand over the coming months. Residents are asked to check GetTheVaccine.ca frequently for updates and to book an appointment once eligible, or to check with local pharmacies as they may have third dose appointments available.
• Would like to remind residents that all eligible individuals who have not yet been immunized for COVID-19 may continue to register for a vaccine appointment or attend specific clinics where walk-ins are permitted for first/second doses. Full details are listed at GetTheVaccine.ca.
• Would like to remind residents that local statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
