Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, February 24 to discuss updates to the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Wednesday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.
At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Received an update regarding the current COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
- Discussed Lambton County's transition into the Red (Control) level of the Provincial COVID-19 response framework that occurred on February 22.
- Heard that the first shipment of Pfizer vaccines arrived in Lambton County on Monday, February 22. This shipment is being used to begin immunizing remaining retirement home residents and high priority staff at Bluewater Health. An additional shipment of the Moderna vaccine is expected to arrive this week, which is allocated to administer second doses of vaccine to long-term care and high-risk retirement home residents. An additional shipment of Pfizer vaccines is expected to arrive the first week of March.
- Discussed fixed clinic sites in Point Edward, Wyoming and Forest that will begin to open next week, by appointment only, to immunize specific priority groups including long-term care and retirement home staff and essential caregivers.
Please Note: These immunization clinics will be open to additional priority groups in the future, but at this time will operate on an invitation only basis, based on current priority populations as outlined by the Province. Details will be provided as soon as possible regarding when these clinics will be open to a wider eligibility group and the booking process for these groups.
- Received an update on PPE supply levels from County divisions. All areas continue to maintain an adequate supply level.
