Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, January 27 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Wednesday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.
At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
- Heard that the first COVID-19 vaccines were administered in Lambton County yesterday at Trillium Villa in Sarnia. 500 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Lambton County on Monday, January 25. The Mobile Immunization Team is working to administer all currently available doses to the first priority group, as directed by the Province, which includes long-term care home and high-risk retirement home residents. Another small shipment of the vaccine is expected to arrive the first week of February, which will allow for continued immunization of this priority group. - Would like to remind residents that Lambton Public Health will be hosting a Radio Community Call-in Session on Thursday, January 28 at 8:30 a.m. on CHOK (103.9 FM or 1070 AM) to answer questions from the public surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine and the local roll-out plan.
- Received an update on PPE supply levels from County divisions. All areas continue to maintain an adequate supply level.
- Heard that the list of essential workers eligible for the Emergency Child Care Program for school-aged children has been further expanded. Spaces are still available in the Program throughout Lambton County. Visit lambtononline.ca/childcare for more information and the full list of eligibility requirements.
