Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, July 22 to discuss updates to the current COVID-19 pandemic response. The group will meet again on Wednesday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.
At today's meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
- Heard from Dr. Ranade that other provinces, and some cities in Ontario are seeing increasing COVID-19 positive cases in the 20 - 49 age demographic and that the sources of disease transmission can often be linked to parties and social gatherings where people are socializing and may not be taking precautionary measures such as staying home when sick, maintaining a two metre distance from others, wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible, and performing good hand hygiene. This age demographic will be an important target audience for increased communication as the community advances into Stage 3 re-opening.
- Discussed the County of Lambton operations that are impacted by new Stage 3 guidelines, specifically the Long-Term Care Division, Cultural Services Division, Social Services Division and Public Health Division. Each Division is continuing to respond to new guidance, or actively planning to adjust operations to align with public health guidance and allowances permitted in Stage 3.
