Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, July 29 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Wednesday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.
At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
- Discussed the increase in positive COVID-19 cases reported over the last week, which were anticipated to coincide with reopening stages and increased socialization. Residents are reminded to continue practicing public health protection measures including physical distancing, proper hand hygiene, staying home when sick and wearing a mask where required or where physical distancing is not possible.
- Discussed concerns surrounding mental health and wellbeing in the community, as well as substance abuse. Many supports are active and available, although there may be some limitations on in-person services. - Heard that current PPE levels remain well stocked in all areas. The group continues to monitor supply to ensure adequate quantities are available, should there be a rapid increase in demand.
