Emergency Control Group Update - June 10

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, June 10 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Friday this week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.

At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:

• Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
• Discussed the Provincial announcement regarding regions moving to Stage 2, and Lambton County not being included in the first group to move forward. Staff have sent a letter to Provincial officials requesting details on how this decision was made.
• Heard that staff are using the details released surrounding Stage 2 to prepare services, programs and amenities for reopening, once Lambton County is advanced to enter the next Stage. Currently, Lambton County remains in Stage 1 of the reopening framework. See the news release from Lambton Public Health for further details.
• Heard that childcare centres are permitted to open, if prepared, as of Friday, June 12. The Social Services division is working closely with Lambton Public Health and child care operators to review new guidelines and develop a reopening strategy. Operations will be re-commencing in a measured, careful and safe manner following the guidance provided by the Province, and centres will only be opening once they are prepared to do so safely.
