Emergency Control Group Update - June 5

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Friday, June 5 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Monday and Friday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.

At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:

• Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
• Discussed different reopening scenarios that have been proposed by the Provincial government, including a possible regionalized approach. More information is being requested from the Province on what this approach could look like and how the regions would be determined.
• Continued discussing the re-opening process and what it will look like for different County facilities and amenities. When more information is provided by the Province on phases 2 and 3 of the re-opening framework, plans will be put into place for re-opening County facilities to the public. Until more information is received, steps are being taken to prepare for re-opening based on the safety guidelines provided by the Province.
• Heard that current PPE levels in County divisions are adequate for now, but there is concern moving forward. As more businesses and facilities re-open, there will be higher demand for PPE and more pressure will be placed on the distribution channels. Discussions are taking place on how to handle potential shortages, as well as how to prepare supply for the possibility of a second wave of infection in the future.
