Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group has been meeting daily, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, including this weekend.
The group received an update on the current COVID-19 situation from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade. There are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lambton County, however Public Health officials are approaching the situation as though the virus is here and circulating throughout the community.
By taking this approach, we are working to prevent the spread of the virus. Dr. Ranade continues to strongly encourage the community to practice enhanced social distancing and good hygiene. Regular handwashing, not touching your face and keeping at least 2 metres distance from others will help protect both yourself and the community.
Many County facilities are limiting public access and cancelling face-to-face meetings. We ask you to call ahead before visiting any County of Lambton facility. Many departments are conducting business over the phone and by email. These facilities include, but are not limited to, the Administration Building in Wyoming, the Public Health Building in Point Edward, and the Lambton Shared Services Centre in Sarnia.
A reminder that all Cultural Services facilities are closed until April 5 (including libraries, museums, and the gallery) and that Long-Term Care Homes are not accepting any visitors until further notice.
Further information will be provided as it becomes available. For the most up to date information regarding COVID-19, please visit the Lambton Public Health website and the Province of Ontario website. Facility closures will be listed on the Lambton County website.
