Emergency Control Group Update - March 24

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met this morning to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation, including updates from the Province regarding the closure of all non-essential businesses. The group is scheduled to meet Wednesday and Friday this week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.

The group received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade. Lambton Public Health officials continue to approach the situation as though the virus is here and circulating throughout the community, even though there are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lambton County.

By taking this approach, we are working to prevent the spread of the virus. Dr. Ranade continues to strongly encourage the community to practice enhanced social distancing and good hygiene. Regular handwashing, not touching your face and keeping at least 2 metres distance from others will help protect both yourself and the community.

Discussions surrounding the closure of non-essential businesses by the Province was the main focus of this morning's meeting.

Lambton Public Health is currently working on expanding their resources for local businesses following the Provincial announcement. Information, resources and support for local businesses can be found on the Lambton Public Health website. Businesses are also able to submit questions to Lambton Public Health through the website.

The full list of businesses and services deemed essential by the province can be found on the Province of Ontario website.
