Emergency Control Group Update - March 27

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met this morning to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group is scheduled to meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be arranged if needed.

There are currently seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lambton County. All seven individuals are currently receiving care at Bluewater Health. Visit the Lambton Public Health website for further information.

The investigation into these cases by Lambton Public Health is ongoing. Public Health staff are working diligently to contact any individuals that may have been in close contact with these confirmed cases. Please note that Public Health's outgoing phone ID is listed as “private”, so you may receive a call from them with this identification.

The Control Group and Lambton Public Health would like to remind the community that anyone returning from international travel is required to self-isolate for a period of 14 days. This means you do not stop for groceries or any other errands on your way home or once you get home. Have a friend or family member pick up groceries or anything else you may need on your behalf and drop them off to you. Many local community groups are offering grocery delivery services in partnership with grocery stores. Contact your local store to find out what options are available.

Our Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, continues to strongly encourage the community to practice enhanced social distancing and good hygiene. Regular handwashing, not touching your face and keeping at least 2 metres distance from others will help protect both yourself and the community.
