Emergency Control Group Update - May 29

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Friday, May 29 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Monday and Friday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.

At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:

• Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
• Discussed the use of mapping tools by large urban centres in Ontario that display the general location of confirmed COVID-19 cases. The Emergency Control Group would like to remind residents that the COVID-19 virus is likely present in all communities, and everyone should be taking precautions to protect themselves and others at all times, regardless of where they are.
• Continued discussing the re-opening process and what it will look like for different County facilities and amenities. When more information is provided by the Province on phases 2 and 3 of the re-opening framework, plans will be put into place for re-opening County facilities to the public. Until more information is received, steps are being taken to prepare for re-opening based on the safety guidelines provided by the Province.
• Heard that Lambton Public Health is preparing a structured approach for decision-making to assist in deciding on what public facilities will be re-opened and when.
• Heard that a working group is being assembled to support County divisions as they begin their recovery and re-opening phases.
