Emergency Control Group Update - May 8

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Friday, May 8 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.

At these meetings, the Emergency Control Group:

• Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
• Discussed recommendations towards those planning on visiting their cottage in the near future. We ask that everyone avoid unnecessary travel and remain at their primary residence. However, if you absolutely must travel to your additional property, it is asked that you bring all supplies and resources with you and follow all public health recommendations including practicing physical distancing and proper hand hygiene.
• Heard that a resource page is now available on the County website that provides links to local and provincial volunteer portals as well information about assisting safely in your community. The County wishes to emphasize that individuals can best assist their communities by staying home, practicing physical distancing and good hand hygiene, and taking other measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
• Discussed the distribution plan that is in place for PPE. Levels of PPE remain satisfactory in County divisions, however this may change depending on how the COVID situation progresses. Staff are reaching out to community partners to determine the need for additional PPE in the community, and assisting where possible.
