Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, September 23 to discuss updates to the current COVID-19 pandemic response. The group will meet again on Wednesday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.
At today's meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Discussed contingency planning for the approaching winter months, and how the group will continue to meet in the event of power failures, equipment failures or network outages due to severe winter weather.
- Received an update from the Social Services Division concerning the ongoing temporary housing of people who are homeless. Currently, the County of Lambton is housing 155 people each night, in partnership with other community service agencies.
- Discussed the living arrangements of 'snowbirds' who typically live in trailer parks in Canada during spring, summer and fall, but who travel to the southern United States to live during the winter months, and the implications of zoning requirements which prevent year-round living within trailer parks. The Infrastructure & Development Services Division will examine the issue further, examining potential impacts for Lambton County.
- The Corporation's supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) continues to be adequate.
