Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton Emergency Control Group met Wednesday, September 9 to discuss updates in the current COVID-19 situation. The group will meet again on Wednesday next week to discuss new developments and planning requirements. Additional meetings will be scheduled if needed.
At this meeting, the Emergency Control Group:
- Received an update from Lambton County's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ranade, regarding the COVID-19 situation in Lambton County. Current statistics are available on the Lambton Public Health website, including a detailed community snapshot.
- Heard that Lambton Public Health continues to actively work with local school boards as they prepare to reopen.
- Discussed current Lambton Public Health staffing levels and the process for onboarding additional staff, as required under Ontario's Plan for Safe Reopening of Schools. This additional staffing capacity is intended to assist with infection prevention and control (IPAC), surveillance, screening, testing and outbreak management.
- Received an update on PPE supply levels from County divisions. All areas continue to maintain an adequate supply level, however demand will be increasing as schools reopen and Public Health staff are assigned to IPAC work within local school boards.
