Sarnia, ON – The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery would like to remind the public their last chance to view the first exhibition in the Re View series is quickly approaching. The exhibition, which opened November 2022, will close on January 21, 2023.
The Re View series celebrates 10 years since the re-opening of the Gallery in the Thom Building, and the first exhibition pulls visitors into the past to trace the building’s history and offers an opportunity to celebrate J.S. Thom (1893-1933), the artist that constructed the Thom Building. Original Thom photographs are brought together with artifacts of the era to reconstruct the feeling of his historic photography studio. An audio tour, scripted and voiced by a gallery volunteer, has been released to accompany the painting In Celebration of the New Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery, by David Moore.
Several components, artifacts, and photographs for this exhibition were developed and borrowed from community member John Rochon, the Lambton Heritage Museum, and Lambton County Archives.
The Gallery will be installing five additional exhibitions in the Re View series over the next year and a half. The exhibitions place the Gallery’s permanent collection in the spotlight and celebrate the power of art. Each exhibit will feature a range of artworks that will be accompanied by audio tours written and voiced by gallery volunteers.
