Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton and the Township of Dawn-Euphemia are advising the public that the Florence Library is temporarily closed until further notice as a result of a fire that took place on Saturday, August 3, 2019. The Library was closed and no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
Due dates for materials borrowed from the Florence Library will be extended; however, materials can be returned, renewed, or borrowed by visiting the Shetland Library, or any Lambton County Library location. Materials can also be borrowed or renewed through online platforms at www.lclibrary.ca, including the online catalogue and eLibrary.
Until the Florence Library is re-opened, library hours will be extended at the nearby Shetland Library location to ensure continuity of service to the community. The hours of operation for neighbouring Lambton County libraries include:
- Shetland Library (519-695-3330) - Open Monday to Thursday: 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.; Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Alvinston Library (519-898-2921) - Open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 2:00 - 8:30 p.m.; Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- Inwood Library (519-844-2491) - Open Tuesday and Thursday: 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.; Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
"The County of Lambton, as library service provider, and the Township of Dawn-Euphemia, as building owner, are working together to restore the library to its original condition," said Darlene Coke, Manager, Library Services. "It is still too early in the process to determine a potential re-opening date, but both parties will provide an update at a future time with an estimated re-opening date when one becomes available."
