Sarnia, ON – The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery is inviting teens aged 14 - 18 to take part in the Random Acts of Art Workshop (RAAW) program this summer.
Summer RAAW are multi-day workshops designed for teens interested in exploring art creation. Led by practicing professional artists, RAAW is the perfect balance of instruction and experimentation. No experience is necessary.
Upcoming sessions include:
RAAW Photography
July 4, 5 & 6, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Explore pure imagination in this three-day photography workshop. Award winning photographer Sierra Rei Hart will guide participants to create interesting compositions, perfect lighting, and express story telling through the eye of their camera. After learning to take great photographs, participants then explore post-production editing to enhance their creations and bring their imagination to life.
Participants are encouraged to submit up to five photos to the Take Your Shot Teen Photo Contest. This year’s theme is "Humans of Lambton." Winners will have their art professionally matted and featured in an exhibit at JNAAG in August.
RAAW Make It Big
July 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Prepare yourself for a larger-than-life experience. In this weeklong studio program, participants join Dave Doucette and Elise McDonald to create giant sculptures inspired by everyday small objects using reclaimed materials. Participants should bring an inspirational object or a picture of an object on the first day.
RAAW Mural Creation
July 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Join artists Mo Thunder and Kennady Rayn in the art studio to experience the creative process of mural painting from start to finish. Participants work collectively to create a mural design centered around the concept ‘Community in Full Colour’, then explore various painting techniques as they create a mural for JNAAG’s art studio wall.
Registration is required. To register, please visit the program and events page on the JNAAG website.
