Wyoming, ON – In celebration of Archives Awareness Week, Lambton County Archives is opening its doors for a behind-the-scenes look at the world of archiving. On Wednesday, April 9, visitors are invited to join special drop-in vault tours at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. to explore how history is preserved.
Lambton County Archives plays a vital role in protecting our community’s past through the collection, preservation, and storage of valuable historical records. During these guided tours, guests will have the opportunity to step inside secure storage areas and learn about the specialized techniques used to safeguard these materials from deterioration. Archives staff will also share some unique stories about Lambton’s past using records from the collection.
“These tours are a chance to share the behind-the-scenes work that we do here at the Archives to preserve historical records for generations to come,” said Nicole Aszalos, Archivist/Supervisor of Lambton County Archives. “Visitors will discover how we store and care for our records and learn some of the fascinating stories hidden within our collection.”
These tours are free of charge and advanced registration is not required. For more information about the Lambton County Archives, visit lambtonarchives.ca.
