Point Edward, ON – Lambton County Council endorsed the Lambton Drug and Alcohol Strategy, 2023 – 2033, as presented by Lambton Public Health (LPH) at the Council meeting this morning.
The Lambton Drug and Alcohol Strategy (LDAS) is a coordinated and collaborative approach across sectors to prevent and reduce the harms of drug and alcohol misuse in Lambton County.
Development of the strategy was led by a steering committee of more than 20 community partners and organizations and was informed by individuals with lived experience, their loved ones, community members, and key community partners.
“Substance use and the increasingly toxic unregulated drug supply present a critical and significant public health concern in Lambton County,” said Dr. Karalyn Dueck, Medical Officer of Health for Lambton Public Health. “This strategy is fit to suit local needs and will work on multiple levels including with individuals, local settings, and on key policies. It is a truly collaborative effort, and I would like to thank all the steering committee members and everyone who has contributed to the development of this strategy for their efforts.”
The Lambton Drug and Alcohol Strategy takes a pillared approach to combatting the harms of drug and alcohol misuse and includes a focus on Demand Reduction, Harm Reduction, and Supply Reduction.
Implementation tables have been created under each pillar, with goals, objectives, and action items charting the path forward for each.
