Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library has teamed up with Gallery in the Grove and the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators, and Performers (CANSCAIP) to host a book cover design contest for youth, asking them to design a front cover for their favourite books.
The library’s contest will complement Gallery in the Grove’s exhibit, CANSCAIP in the Grove: The Art of Picturebooks, which runs from September 9 to October 28, 2023.
The Book Cover Design Contest is open to youth aged 5 – 12 and entries will be judged based on their originality and artistic value in two age categories. Original artworks can be submitted in person at any library from July 3 to September 2, 2023.
“The Book Cover Design Contest is a great way for kids to use their imaginations and artistic skills to create a book cover that captures attention and curiosity,” said Vanitia Campbell, Public Services Coordinator – Youth Programs and Outreach.
Winners from each age category will receive an Art Kit worth $50 and have their designs displayed alongside the works of the CANSCAIP artists at Gallery in the Grove. Additionally, two runners-up from each age group will be awarded book prizes featuring selected works by CANSCAIP artists. All submitted designs will be displayed at the Sarnia Library from September 22 to October 22, 2023.
Winners will be announced on September 9, 2023. Artworks will be returned to participants following the Sarnia Library exhibition.
