Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library is celebrating Ontario Public Library Week (October 20-26, 2024) by highlighting media literacy and providing opportunities for people to learn about how to find, understand, evaluate, and create different types of media.
"The digital landscape is changing rapidly and new technologies like Artificial Intelligence reshape how we consume information,” said Darlene Coke, Manager, Library Services. “Critically thinking about the information we consume online is more important than ever, and libraries remain a vital resource for accessing reliable and trustworthy information."
Throughout Ontario Public Library Week, Lambton County Library will offer programs on a range of media literacy topics, including:
- Introduction to Digital Citizenship: Learn how to effectively use the Internet and conduct your online interactions responsibly by treating others with kindness, being accountable, acting with honesty, and practicing online safety measures.

- Bright’s Grove Library: Tuesday, October 22, 2024, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
- Beginner's Guide to A.I.: Dive into the basics of artificial intelligence and explore its real-world applications in an accessible, beginner-friendly presentation.
- Alvinston Library: Monday, October 21, 2024, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
- Petrolia Library: Tuesday, October 22, 2024, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
- Tracking your Digital Footprint: Explore how your digital footprint is created and learn strategies to protect your personal information online.
- Watford Library: Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
- Forest Library: Thursday, October 24, 2024, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
- How to Spot Fake News: In an age of information overload, learn tips and tricks to identify misinformation and become a confident fact-checker.
- Sarnia Library: Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
- Demystifying Artificial intelligence with Dr. Joel Armstrong: Explore the history, concerns, and future trends of generative AI tools. Dive deeper into the world of AI with a Q&A session with Dr. Armstrong.
- Sarnia Library Theatre: Friday, October 25, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Global Donuts & Deli, located at 1603 London Line in Sarnia, will help Lambton County Library celebrate Ontario Public Library Week by featuring a special Lambton County Library donut to help remind citizens of the important role libraries serve in our communities.
