Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library is celebrating Culture Days from September 22 to October 19 with several free programs.
“Culture Days is a nationwide initiative that brings together artists, community groups, and institutions to offer free arts and cultural experiences to the public,” said Vanitia Campbell, Public Services Coordinator – Youth Programs and Outreach with Lambton County Library. “Culture Days provides an opportunity to connect with our community through sharing traditions and history.”
This year’s special Culture Days programs include:
- Indigenous Storytime
Tuesday, September 26 – 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Sarnia Library
For ages 3+
Participate in an interactive story time that will begin with a welcome song with Grandmother Drum and include a reading of "With Our Orange Hearts" by Phyllis Webstadt and Emily Kewageshig. Children will have a chance to try out the drum and participate in a colouring activity. - Kimchi Tasting with Jiak
Wednesday, September 27- 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sarnia Library
For ages 18+
Lo-Anne will talk about the cultural significance of kimchi, the process of making it, and participants will taste different varieties of kimchi during this experience. - Paint Night with Moses Lunham
Thursday, October 5 – 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Thedford Library
For ages 14+
Create your own painting with step-by-step instructions from Moses Lunham, an artist from Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. - The Great War in Colour with Andrew Robertshaw
Thursday, October 19 – 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sarnia Library Theatre
For ages 14+
Learn about the history of the Great War from military historian and world war expert, Andrew Robertshaw.
