Point Edward, ON – The Lambton COVID-19 Immunization Task Force met Tuesday, May 4 to discuss updates to the COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan in Lambton County. Here are some highlights from the meeting:
To date, a total of 52,257 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Lambton Public Health (LPH), Bluewater Health, primary care and pharmacies. That represents 45 percent of the eligible population in Lambton County who have received one or more doses.
Lambton County’s COVID-19 Immunization Rollout continues with vaccinations to individuals 55 years of age and older, Indigenous populations and adult recipients of chronic home healthcare, along with the first group of essential workers who cannot work from home according to Phase 2 of the Province’s Immunization program. This includes elementary/secondary school staff, childcare and licensed foster care workers, faith leaders who provide end of life care, agriculture/farming and food manufacturing workers, etc. Vaccinations are also currently being administered to individuals with eligible health conditions along with one essential caregiver for those with the highest risk health conditions.
As vaccine supply increases, eligibility will continue to expand over the next few weeks. Additional groups will be announced soon, beginning with adults aged 50 years and older expected later this week. The second group of essential workers is expected to open the week of May 10.
If you’re eligible and would like to book your vaccination, please go to LPH’s registration page. Please be patient, clinics are booking quickly. If clinics are fully booked, check back often, additional clinics will be open for booking as vaccine supply is confirmed.
LPH unveiled a new dedicated Vaccine Call Centre this week which will run from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The new Vaccine Call Centre can be reached at 226-254-8222 or visit the Contact Us page on the LPH website. Individuals with COVID-19 vaccine inquiries or those who are having difficulty booking their COVID-19 vaccination appointment online are asked to call this new phone number to speak with an agent directly. It is expected the new line will increase call capacity and provide improved access to vaccine information and support, while providing better customer service, and improved response times overall.
