Lambton Heritage Museum hosts virtual talk on petroleum and sustainability

Grand Bend, ON – Lambton Heritage Museum is hosting the Virtual Talk: Petroleum and Environmental Impacts – The Path Towards Sustainability, on Thursday, June 2 beginning at 7:00 p.m.

In this presentation Christina Sydorko, Education Program Coordinator with the Oil Museum of Canada, will examine the relationship between our local oil history and sustainability. She will explore how waste and pollution was produced in early refining and drilling operations, and how outsiders viewed these environmental impacts. After this historical perspective, we will discuss how the industry has evolved over time to what we see today.

“Lambton County has deep roots with the oil industry,” said Colleen Inglis, Education Program Coordinator with Lambton Heritage Museum. “We’re at a crucial turning point with climate change and it’s important that we reflect on our history as we acknowledge the changes needed to minimize environmental impacts and create sustainable solutions.”
