Sarnia, ON – Join the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery on March 23 at 7:00 p.m. for an in-person Art & Ideas lecture with Lawrence Brissenden discussing the art and career of Canadian modernist painter, and founder of Painters Eleven, William Ronald.
Working with original source documents and photos from the estate of William Ronald, the lecture will provide previously unknown details and unseen photos of the artist's important career.
Brissenden is a graduate of Dalhousie University and is a professional accountant. After a longtime fascination with the art of William Ronald, he began to assist the estate of William Ronald three years ago to digitize its extensive archive and to organize a catalogue raisonné project of the artist's entire creative works. The William Ronald Authentic Inventory project version 1 includes over 3,000 original works by William Ronald.
A selection of William Ronald’s work is on display at the gallery as a part of the JNAAG 10th Anniversary Re View exhibit until April 15, 2023. For more information about the current exhibition, visit the 10-year anniversary page on the JNAAG website.
Registration for this event is required and can be completed through the Art & Ideas page of the JNAAG website.
Art & Ideas is a series of presentations that complement the current exhibits by drawing connections to themes found in the current exhibitions and by featuring discussions with specific artists and experts. The series is redesigned each season to entice creative thought and encourage new perspectives.
The gallery is open Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Thursday from 11:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
