Point Edward, ON – Lambton Public Health (LPH) is announcing that Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier of Ontario and Minister of Health, has appointed Dr. Karalyn Dueck as the permanent Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for the County of Lambton.
Dr. Dueck has been serving as the County’s Acting MOH since her appointment on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022.
“We are thrilled to receive this notification from the Province,” said County of Lambton Warden Kevin Marriott, who also sits as Chair for the County’s Board of Health. “Dr. Dueck’s transition into the role of Acting MOH was seamless and we are excited to continue working with her.”
Prior to joining LPH, Dr. Dueck served as the Acting Associate Medical Officer of Health for the Middlesex-London Health Unit and has also had experience with Region of Peel Public Health, York Region Public Health, and as a Family Physician with the Guelph Community Health Centre and the Bramalea Community Health Centre.
“We were very excited to bring Dr. Dueck on board in November, and we are even more excited to finalize her permanent appointment,” said Andrew Taylor, General Manager of the County’s Public Health Services Division.
A licensed member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), Dr. Dueck is also a certified Family Physician with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) and holds the specialty certification as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Public Health and Preventive Medicine (FRCPC), considered the gold standard of certification for medical officers of health.
