Oil Springs, ON - Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site, invites the public to learn about and connect with local wildlife at their PA Day event: Meet Our Wild Neighbours featuring Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation and Education Centre.
On Friday, February 2, 2024, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. visitors can partake in several activities on a drop-in basis. Children can express their creativity through groundhog-themed crafts in honour of Groundhog Day. A unique display of winter sports-related artifacts from the Museum’s collection will offer a look at the history of winter pastimes. Weather-permitting, visitors will be able to borrow snowshoes provided by Lambton County Library to take a snowy stomp around the Museum grounds. Visitors are encouraged to use this time to watch for animal tracks of local wildlife, including squirrels, rabbits, birds, and more.
Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation and Education Centre will offer two exclusive presentations on local wildlife featuring their charming ambassador animals in the Museum’s theatre room. These hour-long presentations will begin at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Space is limited, and visitors must register to secure their spots. Visitors can register online on the Oil Museum’s website.
“Given our rural location, we see a variety of cool critters around the Museum, including Petrol Pete, the groundhog that lives near our historic Oil Springs Train Station,” said Christina Sydorko, Educational Program Coordinator with Oil Museum of Canada. “This event is an opportunity for visitors to learn about local wildlife and ways we can help in our everyday lives. It’s also a chance to get a closer look at some of the wild animals they might see in their own backyards.”
Admission to this event is free with thanks to our generous sponsors at Shell Canada. To learn more about the Oil Museum of Canada, please visit oilmuseum.ca.
