Oil Museum of Canada receives program funding from Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers

Oil Springs, ON – The Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site recently received sponsorship from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) for a programming initiative.

Traveling Trunk education kits have been an offering of the museum since 2019. They were established in an effort to bring more local history directly into the classroom. The kits have been available for rent to teachers at a small cost. The two themed kits focus on two different topics, Geology and Oil History, and contain museum artifacts, reproductions, hands-on activities, and lesson plans that correspond with the Ontario Curriculum.

In an effort to remove barriers to access, the Oil Museum offers a sponsorship program for education. Through this program, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers has taken the opportunity to sponsor both of the Travelling Trunk education kits for $1,200 and the kits can now be reserved at no cost. "The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers is proud to support the Traveling Trunk program and the Oil Museum's ongoing work to provide educational tools teachers can use to tell the story of the oil industry in Canada. Oil and natural gas remains one of our country's most valuable resources and tracing the history of Canada's responsible energy development will help teachers and students alike appreciate the important role this industry plays in their life," said Tim McMillan, CAPP President & CEO.

In addition to free rentals, manuals will be available for teachers to access and download at www.oilmuseum.ca. Kits must be picked up and returned to the Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site.
