Point Edward, ON - Lambton Public health (LPH) is investigating a long-term care outbreak, declared on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Two laboratory-confirmed positive test results for COVID-19 have been linked to staff in the nursing home. In accordance with provincial guidelines, LPH has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Trillium Villa nursing home.
A long-term care or other communal living setting outbreak is declared facility wide when there is one or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 case in a staff member or resident, and possible exposure to others in the setting has occurred.
The first steps involve immediately isolating affected individuals and working with the site location to ensure infection prevention and control measures are maintained or enhanced.
The individuals who tested positive have been notified of their results and LPH is continuing to conduct case and contact management as part of the investigation. LPH will continue to monitor the situation and work with the stakeholders involved to limit further transmission in the setting and the broader community.
