There is an oversized load moving through the City of Sarnia on Monday, November 6, 2023. The load will continue to move through the Town of Plympton-Wyoming and Warwick Township on Tuesday, November 7, on its way to London through Middlesex County.
Throughout the day, the OPP will be doing rolling closures on Mandaumin Road (County Road 26), London Line (County Road 22), and Egremont Road (County Road 22), leading and following the move as the load will take up most of the road. Hydro One will be raising and disconnecting hydro crossings on the route, which could lead to power disruptions to some residents in the area. Sections of these roads will be closed as the load moves through the area.
Please avoid these roads on Tuesday, November 7 if possible. If you encounter the oversized load on the road, please drive safely and follow instructions given by OPP officers.
Please see the outage information below from Hydro One for additional information.
Outage information:
On November 7, nearly 100 Hydro One employees will work as quickly and safely as possible to disconnect and reconnect power to customers in the vicinity of an 86 km route, starting from the Sarnia Harbour in support of a third-party moving a large vessel.
Hydro One worked with the third-party to determine the route in order to minimize the impact to its customers and grid. We understand how difficult it is to be without power and thank customers for their patience.
When: Tuesday, November 7 between 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Given the nature of the move, 14 individual outages are scheduled. Outage start and end times are estimates and vary based on the customers’ location and the speed of travel.
Where: Approximately 1,460 customers in the vicinity of the following roads may be affected by an outage as the vessel moves along the route:
- Mandaumin Road (26) bound by Confederation Line (25) and London Line (22)
- London Line (22) bound by Mandaumin Road (26) and Digby Street
- Egremont Road (22) bound by Digby Street and Denfield Road
Why: In order to ensure safe and reliable power to the communities we serve, Hydro supports third-parties moving large vessels to ensure that they do not interfere or come into contact with our local grid. The cost associated with supporting large moves is paid for by the third-party.
