Sarnia, ON ̶ If you use tobacco products, and want to quit, Lambton Public Health encourages you to use May 31 - World No Tobacco Day - to challenge yourself to go a day without tobacco.
Nadia Butchey, Health Promoter at Lambton Public Health, says the focus of World No Tobacco Day is heart health and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). "CVD including coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease, kills more people than any other cause of death worldwide."
The World Health Organization reports that tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure contribute to about 12% of all heart disease deaths. Tobacco use is the second leading cause of CVD, after high blood pressure.
There are great initiatives and supports across Lambton County to help you quit tobacco and live a healthy lifestyle.
