Petrolia, ON – Plans are underway to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony next week at Petrolia Library to celebrate the completion of renovations following a five-week closure of the library in April.
Members of the community are invited to the Petrolia Library on Wednesday, June 22 to attend the 1:30 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by refreshments. Visitors to the space will see a newly renovated children’s library featuring new flooring, shelving, painting, a new early literacy station and décor. Additionally, a new accessible customer service desk has been built inside the library, and new furnishings were added to the public computer workstations, along with painting of the entire space, and the refinishing of the library’s hardwood floors.
The renovation was completed in partnership with the Town of Petrolia who owns the building, and the County of Lambton, who delivers library services to residents. The renovation was funded by the generosity of the late Otto and Kathleen (Cunningham) Schuldt, who left a $440,577.15 gift to the County of Lambton for use at the Petrolia Library.
