Point Edward, ON – As Ontario reopens and we transition back to some sense of normalcy, it is important to continue to make protecting our health a priority. A part of that return is offering vaccines to specific eligible individuals. As a result of school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccines were not offered at school, but eligibility has been extended and appointments are now available.
If your child is in Grade 7 to 12 this school year (2021/2022), or born between 2004 and 2009, they are eligible to receive their routine school vaccines or complete the vaccine series if they have already started them. These vaccines include Hepatitis B, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Meningococcal.
Catch-up vaccine clinics will be scheduled at community clinic sites starting the week of March Break. For clinic options and booking details visit GetTheVaccine.ca. If at any time you require assistance please call our vaccine call centre at 226-254-8222. Please ensure you bring your vaccination records with you to your appointment.
Has your child already received their routine immunizations? As a parent or guardian, you are required to report your child’s immunizations to your local public health unit if your child attends school, or a licensed daycare centre.1 2

Your primary care provider may also provide these routine vaccinations if you prefer. They are free as long as your child is eligible for a publicly funded dose. These vaccines will have to be ordered for your child, so please contact your physician or primary healthcare provider if you are interested in this option.
Getting immunized is one of the best ways to protect yourself and those around you from the spread of infectious disease. Learn more at GetTheVaccine.ca.
