Sarnia-Lambton, ON - Sarnia-Lambton will be bustling with activity next week as the community welcomes representatives from the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).
The guests, in town Wednesday, April 24 through Friday, April 26, will be touring Sarnia-Lambton as part of ICF's Intelligent Community of the Year competition. Earlier this year, Sarnia-Lambton was named among ICF's Top7 Intelligent Communities after being listed one of its Smart21 Communities worldwide in each of the last four years.
On Wednesday, ICF representatives will visit Roeland's Automated Greenhouse and Stonepicker Brewing Company in Plympton-Wyoming, explore "fibre to the farms" at Cornelissen Farms in Warwick Township, and tour the historic oil fields of Oil Springs.
Then on Thursday, guests from the ICF will participate in a community breakfast with local leaders, tour the local hybrid chemistry cluster and Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park, and visit Lambton College, among other activities.
ICF will be examining how Sarnia-Lambton uses information and communications technology to create inclusive prosperity and enrich the quality of life for all residents.
"We are excited to demonstrate to the ICF in person the many operations, initiatives, and partnerships that have built Sarnia-Lambton into being an intelligent community," said Lambton County Warden Bill Weber. "This is a tremendous opportunity to show how public, private, and academic institutions work together for the betterment of everyone who lives and works in Lambton County."
Sarnia-Lambton's entry into ICF's Top7 program was submitted by the Intelligent Sarnia-Lambton Taskforce, comprised of members from Bluewater Power, Bluewater Regional Networks, Brooke Telecom, City of Sarnia, County of Lambton, Lambton College, Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, and Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park. The Taskforce pursues opportunities that use information and communications technology to create prosperity and enrich the quality of life for all residents.
