Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott has issued the following statement on the passing of Judy Alix:
“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Judy Alix. On behalf of County Council, we send our deepest condolences to the Alix Family at this difficult time. We mourn with you your loss. We also celebrate with you the life of this remarkable woman who devoted so much of her life to improving the lives of the residents of Lambton County and the community we call home.
While her accomplishments and contributions to the residents of Lambton County are too long to list, she will be remembered for her genuine, charitable, and spirited nature with which she carried herself every day. Her life has touched the lives of nearly everyone within our community, and her legacy will stand as an example to all of us to inspire, build, and maintain a caring community.
Whether it was through her career as a registered practical nurse, or her life with her family and her husband Norman, the generosity of Judy and the Alix family has touched the lives of nearly everyone within our community. The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery, the local hospice, the Hospital Foundation, Lambton College, and countless smaller community projects, such as the Kineto Theatre renovation and the Forest Curling Club, are a few of the examples of local groups benefitting from their generosity.
Judy had great vision. She knew how important a sense of community was and through her efforts she helped the region to grow and prosper. In 2014, Judy and Norman approached the County with an idea to work together to help identify potential grant recipients within the community. Their efforts in this regard have been a great success and will bear fruit for many years to come.
Over its 30-year history, The Judith & Norman Alix Foundation has advanced nearly $6 million to improve the community and the lives of residents of Lambton County.
On behalf of Lambton County Council and all residents of Lambton County, we send our deepest sympathies to the Alix family.”
